The Somali Child Rights Coalition (SCRC) warmly welcomes and appreciates the recent announcement of the National Human Rights Commission. This marks a critical step forward in strengthening human rights mechanisms in Somalia, and we commend all stakeholders involved in making this milestone possible.
As a coalition committed to advancing and protecting the rights of children across the country, we believe that a functional and independent Human Rights Commission will play a vital role in promoting accountability, justice, and the protection of the most vulnerable — especially children.
We look forward to engaging constructively with the Commission to ensure that child rights remain a central focus in Somalia’s human rights agenda.
